Science Fair Projects provide an opportunity for students to learn about the nature of science and research in areas of their personal interest. It involves real discovery of little known or unknown information. You, the student become the expert on your project! It integrates into one activity all of the skills that are usually taught separately. To complete a successful project, you will learn science, analyze data, formulate conclusions, and communicate your discovered information to others. While doing this, you will combine reading, writing, math, and science!
As added incentive, students in North Carolina that are selected to represent their Regional Fairs can also win plaques, cash awards, and nomination to National and International competitions! As our State Fair continues to grow, the awards will increase in number and value!
All ELEMENTARY (grades 3-5) and JUNIOR (grades 6-8) students will be required to submit the following:
North Carolina Elementary and Middle School Science Fairs Scientific Review Committee (SRC) Research Plan & Approval Form that includes:
- the research plan
- an Abstract
- as well as any of the required ISEF forms for projects with special concerns.
Students and Teachers may choose to use ALL ISEF forms instead located below or on the ISEF web site. ALL PROJECTS MUST BE REVIEWED AND SIGNED BY LOCAL SRC COMMITTEES FOR SAFETY.
All SENIOR students will be required to submit the following ISEF forms with their registration:
We recommend that ALL students utilize the Student Checklist and ISEF Rules Wizard in planning their projects at the first step in their work.
Starting Your Project:
- High School and Middle School students are encouraged to visit the ISEF Student Planning Web Site.
- Elementary and Middle School students are encouraged to visit Science Fair Central from Discovery School and Science Buddies.
